PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday said the Philippines was willing to work with the United States “to an even greater extent” amid mounting security challenges in the region.
Marcos issued the statement as he welcomed US Senators Roger Wicker and Deb Fisher, along with the US Senate Armed Services Committee Congressional Delegation, during a courtesy call in Malacañang.
In his remarks, Marcos thanked the US for its continuing support to the modernization of the Philippines’ armed forces.
“And we hope to continue working with you to an even greater extent. The Philippines is very open to any proposals, any suggestions, any ideas that you might have for us to improve the situation here,” he said.
“And that’s something that we would like to do together, but not only bilateral between the US and the Philippines, but also with our multilateral arrangements that we have made around the region,” he added.
